Writing About Byzantium

The Professor talks about her recent book, The Byzantines, where she argues for a different view of this culture.

Byzantium is usually seen as exotic and different, and of course ‘byzantine’ – indeed that has often been its attraction in the popular mind. In this lecture, Professor Dame Averil Cameron will talk about her recent book, The Byzantines, where she argues for a different view.

Professor Dame Averil Cameron, is the first lady Warden of Keble College, Oxford and the world’s leading scholar on Byzantine history. She will be delivering the Annual Aequinoctium lecture for the Antiquity group.
