Making Light Work: Photonics and the future of communications.

Photonics has had a revolutionary effect on communications through the widespread deployment of fibre optics for high-capacity data transmission. However, the potential of this technology to offer other benefits to communications and other disciplines is great.

9 – 10 November 2006, The Moller Centre, Cambridge,

This event looks at some of the ground-breaking work being done in photonics which will transform the future of communications and information processing. Sessions will examine the new photonics technologies which are emerging, very small optical networks, general applications, photonics for access to communications networks and the economics of photonoics.
