Join us to discuss the controversies surrounding endeavours past, present and future in Antarctica, with an expert panel.
The heroic age of exploration was a unique time of discovery, producing a major scientific and cultural legacy. In addition to specimens sent back to the Museum a wealth of artefacts remained in Antarctica, frozen in time in Shackleton's 1908 Cape Royds hut and Scottâs 1911 Cape Evans hut.
Join us as we retrace the worst journey ever endured for the sake of Museum specimens; hear first-hand the challenges of working over-winter on the frozen continent and consider how modern-day scientific exploration contrasts that of a century ago. We will discuss the many controversies surrounding endeavours past, present and future in Antarctica with an expert panel including researchers, conservators and curators.
