Imaging Other Worlds: Mythopoesis and Art Practice

Simon O'Sullivan explores the wormholes linking parallel cultural worlds.

Simon O'Sullivan explores the wormholes linking parallel cultural worlds. From Sun Ra's notion of 'myth-science' to Robert Smithson and Matthew Barney, this look at imagined universes leads to another investigation - art's tendeny to appropriate the more popular and sub-cultural. O'Sullivan is Lecturer in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths College and author of Art Encounters Deleuze and Guattari: Thought Beyond Representation.
