Dr Alison Coffey is an expert on variation in the human genome, and how it affects diseases
Dr Coffey is expert on the causes of variation in human genes. She works at the Sanger Centre, near Cambridge, where she ws a founder member of the X-chromosome group. She is lead author on the Nature publication on this chromosome's sequence. Areas addressed include epilepsy, cardiovascular disease, deafness and cognition.
