Science of Success - Role of Technology in Sporting Performance

The influence of design and materials on aspects of sporting performance, including perception, safety and marketing.


How can cyclists go faster, pole vaulters go higher or golfers hit the ball further? The answers include being fitter and stronger but also in using the most appropriate sports equipment. The influence of equipment design and the materials used have long been claimed to have a dramatic effect on sporting performance. In this talk, Dr Claire Davis from the University of Birmingham will investigate the influence of design and materials on various aspects of sporting performance, including perception, safety and marketing.
