Exhibition Assistant Kate Cowcher will discuss Stanley Cursiter's 'Rain on Princes Street' (1913)
A strikingly modern and curiously evocative work, 'Rain on Princes Street' is one of series of paintings executed by Cursiter in 1913. Painted early in his career, these works demonstrate an engagement with the European avant guarde, particularly the Italian Futurist movement by an artist who went on to be a leading figure in twentieth century Scottish art.
