How Concepts Behave: the potential of the life sciences and their impact on society

BIOS Centre for the Study of Bioscience, Biomedicine, Biotechnology and Society annual lecture


Professor Nowotny is one of the most senior sociologists in Europe overseeing science policy. In her lecture she will be addressing the question of future directions in EU science policy from the point of view of how its ‘potential’ is to be defined both sociologically and in technical terms.

Helga Nowotny is vice-president of the European Research Council.
