James Robertson, co-author of a Marks & Clark analysis of worldwide patenting (focussed on biotech applications), will speak on some of the challenging disparities in the use of patents by academic institutions and companies worldwide and how these may influence other R&D sectors. Isabel Davies will speak on moves to improve IP protection in the wake of recent UK & European government reviews (e.g. Gowers) and will comment on some recent decisions. The meeting will include a break for tea and coffee and will conclude with a panel discussion including speakers and meeting participants.
