This conference aims to raise the visibility of nursing research in practice and to demonstrate the value of service user participation in the research process.
This is the 2nd Annual Conference of the London Regional Research Society. This year’s conference takes place on Thursday 13 May 2004 in RCN headquarters, Cavendish Square, London.
Highlights this year include an assessment of an educational intervention for asthma, action research with confused older adults, a qualitative study of the impact of evidence-based health care, a randomised controlled trial of the effects of nurse–lead psychological support on patient anxiety and a phenomenological study of patient and partner experiences when being diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. The plenaries this year will be controversial – one by a user and speaker from INVOLVE (previously known as Consumers in NHS Research - www.invo.org.uk), and one from NICE (www.nice.org.uk). The recently confirmed keynote speaker is Professor Julienne Meyer from City University, London.
Feedback from the society’s last conference was very positive, and it was seen as a protected environment for researchers who might be presenting work for the first time, as well as being useful for more experienced researchers. The minimal costs includes coffee and lunch, and a wine reception at the end.
