A panel will consider what needs to be done to ensure secure foundations and systems for the information society of the 21st century.
Privacy in an open world: Who wants to know? Why should they know it? Who cares?

Chaired by Ian Walden, Professor of Information and Communication Law, Queen Mary, University of London
At a significant moment in the public debate over privacy and data protection, as levels of e-commerce and e-government continue to rise, and the issue of national ID cards becomes ever more pressing, we will gather together a panel of experts from government, industry and civil society, to consider what needs to be done to ensure secure foundations and systems for the information society of the 21st century.
