An overview of women's historical writing during the romantic era paying particular attention to Jane Austen's fiction.
Women's historical writing at a time when female authors experimented with historical narration as a way of promoting women's rights and reforming national politics. The talk will pay particular attention to Austen's fiction and her jovial parody, 'History of England' (1791).
