Women's Writing on Education and History in the Age of Austen

An overview of women's historical writing during the romantic era paying particular attention to Jane Austen's fiction.

Women's historical writing at a time when female authors experimented with historical narration as a way of promoting women's rights and reforming national politics. The talk will pay particular attention to Austen's fiction and her jovial parody, 'History of England' (1791).
