Join our distinguished panel as they discuss whether it is possible for Muslims to believe in secular democracy, and to live in a secular society.
At a time of fierce public debate in the UK over the question of how people from different backgrounds, and who live by different cultural and religious codes, can come together and live side by side, this discussion will focus on whether it is possible for Muslims to believe in secular democracy, and to live in secular society. Or is Islam a way of life which necessarily excludes 'consensus' and democracy?
Panel:
Ed Husain, author of The Islamist and Deputy Director of the Quilliam Foundation
Dr Usama Hasan, Director, City Circle
Yasmin Alibhai Brown, columnist, The Independent
Inayat Bunglawala, writer and commentator on Islam and current affairs
Chair, Baroness Kishwer Falkner
