A History of the Dock Police In London

A lunchtime lecture presented by Roger Elliott from the Port of Tilbury Police.

Roger Elliott from the Port of Tilbury Police will talk about the history of policing the Docks in London - a tale of merchants, migrants, pirates and mud larks. The Port of Tilbury Police is a small, specialised police force responsible for policing the Port of Tilbury. Known before 1992 as the Port of London Authority Police, at over 200 years old, it is the oldest police force in the country.
