Dr Catherine Fowler,Head of Southampton Institute's MA in Independent Film and Filmmaking and author of the 'European Cinema Reader' (Routledge 2002), will discuss issues related to film in the gallery space.
Dr Catherine Fowler,Head of Southampton Institute's MA in Independent Film and Filmmaking and author of the 'European Cinema Reader' (Routledge 2002), will discuss issues related to film in the gallery space. The lecture coincides with the John Hansard Gallery's 'Short Histories of Video Art: Part 2' - a weekly series also at the John Hansard Gallery which showcases artists' video works from the advent of portable video technology to the present day. The series includes rarely seen early tapes from the UK, Europe and the USA and more recent work by internationally renowned contemporary artists. On-going screenings take place in the John Hansard Gallery's newly refurbished video installation room during gallery opening hours (Tuesday-Friday 11-5 and Saturday 11-4)
