Coronavirus situation update

Our lecture organisers may or may not have had time to update their events with cancellation notices. Clearly social gatherings are to be avoided and that includes lectures. STAY AT HOME FOLKS, PLEASE.

Northern Lights

Siobhan Logan, local poet and storyteller, will give an illustrated talk and performance of her poem sequence on the Northern Lights.

Siobhan was sponsored by a team of auroral scientists at Leicester University to visit Tromso, Norway. She studied the stories of indigenous arctic peoples and spoke to scientists researching the aurora.
She has recently performed at the Science Museum in London, made a video of her arctic visit for BBC Video Nation and is preparing a book based on the project.
Siobhan's talk will include some of the science and folk tales and poetry associated with the aurora, and maybe some spectacular images.
If you saw Joanna Lumley's TV programme about her visit to see the 'Tricky Lady' (7 September 2008) you'll know you're in for
