We will discuss the principles of the licensing system, advantages and disadvantages of using it and ways of making money by developing other peopleâs ideas.
Sharing, mixing and sampling are an integral part of our culture and great works of art wouldnât exist without it. However, more and more people are very conscious about the value of their intellectual property and would be very reluctant to assign copyright for others to exploit their work. And creative people using material found on the internet can never be sure â“ in particular if the product developed from such material is commercially successful â“ when the copyright holder will get in touch and demand compensation. Creative Commons was developed to provide a simple way to solve the problem for both, the creator of the initial work and the user who develops the idea further. We will discuss the principles of the licensing system, advantages and disadvantages of using it and ways of making money by developing other peopleâs ideas.
Own-it and The Hub have invited a legal expert, Prodomus Tsiavos from Creative Commons and a practitioner to introduce the topic and answer questions from the audience.
