Mary Jordan - Co-bureau, The Washington Post, and Pulitzer Prize Winner

Mary Jordan from The Washington Post visits De Montfort University to give a free lecture at the Distinguished Lecture Series.


Mary Jordan, a staff writer for the Washington Post for 24 years and a Pulitzer Prize winner, is The Washington Post's co-bureau chief in London. She graduated from Georgetown University in 1983. She studied Irish poetry at Trinity College in Dublin and earned a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. She was a Nieman fellow at Harvard University in 1989-90. In London, Mary is a frequent contributor to BBC news programs.

Mary and her husband, Kevin Sullivan, have been posted abroad for nearly 15 years, first in Tokyo, then in Mexico City, and currently in London. They won the George Polk Award in 1998 for coverage of the Asian Financial Crisis and the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for international reporting for their coverage of the Mexican criminal justice system. They are the authors of "The Prison Angel," a biography that won a 2006 Christopher Award.
