Centre for the Study of Global Governance: Global Civil Society Yearbook 2009 launch
This diverse panel explores global civil society approaches to the social problem of poverty. The ways in which poverty are articulated, how poverty is represented, and how âthe poorâ are designated are important political processes with implications for peopleâs agency, our perceptions of impoverishment, and policies to alleviate it.
David Campbell is professor of cultural and political geography at Durham University. Teresa Hanley is manager of public interest in poverty issues at the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. Ashwani Kumar is associate professor at TISS and visiting fellow at CSGG. Sally Stares is a research fellow in the Methodology Institute at LSE.
