Monkey Stories -
For children 7-12 years. Read by Ella Burns
The Journey to the West, Chinaâs greatest novel, was written in the 16th century. It gave us the classic stories of the Monkey King interspersed with myths, legends and fables as Monkey, two monks and a pig journey to find the Buddhist scriptures. Variations on the Monkey King have been told for centuries and on TV, the stage and by manga artists. Children will be transfixed by the monkey's antics.
Ella Burns is a co-founder of and a workshop leader with Little Green Pig Writing Project, a space to create for young writers. She runs storywalks, workshops and open mic spots for children and young people from 7 to 18.
