The joy of pubs

Why local pubs are important

Many of us are rather fond of pubs. But the local pub plays a far more important role in community life than just a place for a quick pint. Writer Paul Kingsnorth, author of the books Real England and One No, Many Yesses, will explore the important role that the local pub plays in English society and how we can protect these institutions from the threats to their survival in the modern world.

This lecture will take place in a town of great pubs – Lewes – and after the lecture, attendees will be encouraged to show their support for the local hostelries!
