Professor Mohammad Ibrahim, Professor from the Faculty of Technology at De Montfort University gives his inaugural lecture.
Understanding creativity is one of the most challenging tasks in understanding human behaviour. Professor Mohammad Ibrahimâs work with media technology students has shown creative behaviour to be highly non-linear and above all agile. In this talk, a non linear model for representing creative design activities will be discussed and some results will be presented. The model is applicable to objective as well as subjective activities such as those found in the design of interactive media. Exploitation of this work in teaching interactive media to Institute of Creative Technology (IOCT) students, that have a wide range of backgrounds, will also be presented.
Mohammad Ibrahim is a Professor in the Department of Media Technology, and he has been in his current position since 2005. He has also held academic positions at Nottingham University, and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia as Professor of Computer Engineering. He received a best teacher award and an award of merit for innovative research from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, both in 2003/04.
Mohammadâs research interests are in signals and systems theories and their applications, which include digital signal and image processing, and in creativity and innovation technologies. His current interest is in the development of signals and systems theories for the interplay between behaviour and context, and its application to the creative design of digital and interactive media.
