UCL, home to one of the world's most comprehensive archives of George Orwell's works, hosts the first staged reading of Burmese Days by the International Theatre Collective, Aya, led by UCL alumnus Ryan Kiggell (UCL Geography 1999).
Set in a colonial outpost of Upper Burma during the decline of British rule, Orwell's early masterpiece unmasks the latent despotism of the West with astonishing precision. Corruption, alienation, and the murderous failure of love are brought into crisp focus in a truly unnerving satire.
This event will be followed by a question and answer session with the cast.
