Museums were established across the British Empire during the 19th and 20th centuries. Professor John MacKenzie, University of Edinburgh will explore how the history of these institutions and their collections provides an important insight into the culture of imperialism and the development of colonial identities. This lecture will celebrate the publication of Prof MacKenzie's new book, Museums and Empire, the first wide-ranging analysis of this fascinating subject.
