For the second lecture in our 2009/10 Scottish Art History Lectue Series, Alan Riach and Alexander Moffat will discuss the significance of Scottish poetry and painting from the 1890s through the 20th Century to the present day, the subject of their lavishly illustrated new book, The Arts of Resistance: Poets, Portraits and Landscapes of Modern Scotland, which takes the form of a dialogue between artist Alexander Moffat RSA, and Alan Riach, poet and professor of Scottish literature at Glasgow University. This lecture will deliver a thought- provoking and inspirational insight into the purpose of art and literature in contemporary Scottish Society and Culture
