A Little History of English Gardening

A romp through British gardening from the stone-age to today. The historian Jenny Uglow looks at the grand designers, plant-hunters and allotment tenders of England, and asks: Did the Romans have rakes? Did the monks get muddy? Did the potato seem really, really weird when it arrived on our shores?
