Robert Crawford will talk about his widely praised biography of Robert Burns 'The Bard'
(Cape, 2009)
The lecture will describe some of the challenges, discoveries, and risks involved in writing a biography of one of the world's favourite poets, a controversial writers who can be seen as the first of the great Romantic poets and whose admirers have ranged from Jane Austen and Abraham Lincoln to Maya Angelou and Kofi Annan.
