The Haunted London Underground: what lies beneath?

Free Lunchtime lecture by Alan Brooke and David Branton. Part of the London Ghost Festival 2009 presented by London Paranormal www.londonparanormal.com

The London Underground late at night has a haunting atmosphere with its labyrinth of subterranean tunnels, passages, disturbed burial grounds and whatever else may lurk down there. Workers on the Underground have often reported strange incidents such as unexplained noises and sightings of ‘people’ that had reputedly died years earlier. This talk draws on material from their book “The Haunted London Underground” and explores various stories and accounts of supernatural activity on the London Underground. Where possible they have explored the historical details behind the accounts.
They believe there are many more stories to be told…
Alan Brooke and David Brandon have taught history in adult and higher education for many years. They have written eight books together and have a particular interest in the history of London. Their books include “Tyburn, London’s Fatal Tree”, “London, City of the Dead”,” Haunted London Pubs” and “Shadows in the Steam: The Haunted Railways” (forthcoming October 2009).
