The Guardian Hay Festival and the Orange Prize for Fiction have joined up to celebrate the huge wealth of contemporary fiction.
We'âre putting together a library of 50 books by living writers you want to recommend as âessential readsâ. Everyone attending this session will be eligible for a prize draw. Weâ'll give a complete set of the 50-book library to the school or college nominated by the lucky winner. In this hour a galaxy of writers and performers appearing at Hay over this Orange Weekend will make their own nominations, and so will you. As part of our commitment to The National Library for the Blind, the profits from this event will sponsor the production of a Braille version of the winner of the Orange Prize for Fiction, announced on 8 June.
