Psychogeography Talk

Victoria Henshaw will be talking about exploring influencing factors in the everyday olfactory experiencing of urban areas.


Leeds Psychogeography Group – Talk: Victoria Henshaw, University of Salford

Day/time: Tuesday 12th January 5.00pm

Victoria Henshaw is a final year doctoral candidate at the University of Salford, researching the sensory environment of towns and cities and specifically the role of the sense of smell in urban design. Prior to commencing her doctorate, Victoria worked for many years in urban regeneration and city management and is Chair of the board of trustees, and founding member for The Design Shed, a Design and Architecture Centre for South Yorkshire.

Not to be sniffed at, her talk will explore influencing factors in the everyday olfactory experiencing of urban areas, highlighting characteristics of this fascinating sense, considerations of smell in the design of urban areas and will draw from a series of olfactory walks and interviews in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

The session will also include opportunities for attendees to sample scratch and sniff books.
