The Vale of York Hoard

The Vale of York Hoard with Barry Ager of the British Museum

Discovered in 2007, the Vale of York Hoard was buried in the late 920s in what is now North Yorkshire. It features spectacular gold & silver jewellery, ingots and coins, originally from regions ranging from Ireland to the Middle East, reflecting the amazing cultural diversity, contact and exchange in the Viking world. This illustrated talk introduces a new British Museum publication on the hoard, and shines a light on this most fascinating Viking treasure.
