The Essential Brief Therapy Strategies

This practical workshop concentrates on the key powerful brief solution-focused skills that all counsellors, social workers, nurses and other caring professionals need to know about and can use straight away.

Human givens brief psychotherapy is easy to absorb and offers the most effective way forward for the NHS and social services to help disturbed and distressed people economically (because those trained in these skills speed the throughput of successfully treated patients). Both patients and counsellors alike benefit from working in this more humane and respectful way.

Emphasis is placed on you adapting these skills to your own work setting. If you need to understand the research which shows why some people get better results with patients than others, you should attend this workshop.
What you gain from the day:

* New language skills to maximise your client’s potential for change
* Reduced pressure on yourself by developing an alliance with the patient against the ‘problem’
* Increased confidence when dealing with all kinds of emotional disorders
* 17 useful strategies which will empower you to help people make changes more easily
* Protection against ‘burnout’
* Insight into how to incorporate brief therapy into your practice.

Who should attend

* If you are a clinical psychologist, counsellor, psychotherapist, mental health nurse, psychiatrist, GP, doctor, nurse, OT, physiotherapist, youth worker, social worker, health visitor or support worker and wish to be more effective in what you do, you should attend.
* If you wish to improve your practical skills in individual or family counselling you should attend.
* If you want to understand why working from the human givens gets better results with clients, you should attend.
