These classes will focus on four of Alfred Hitchcock’s films of the 1930s, made before he moved to America.


These classes will focus on four of Alfred Hitchcock’s films of the 1930s, made before he moved to America: The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934); The 39 Steps (1935); Sabotage (1936); and The Lady Vanishes (1938). It will explore the development of Hitchcock’s characteristic techniques and motifs, especially suspense, and examine his development of the thriller genre, particularly in its romantic and comic forms.
