Contrasting Empires: Imperial Russia

The course will trace Russian imperial history from the accession of the first Romanov Tsar in 1613 to the death of the last in 1918.


The course will trace Russian imperial history from the accession of the first Romanov Tsar in 1613 to the death of the last in 1918. In doing so the rich and vast panoply of Russian history will be laid before us - from the grinding poverty of the serfs to the magnificence of St Petersburg.
