Tonight we learn what he was doing when he wasn't summoning angels in his sitting room rounding out our appreciation of Dee.
John Dee is famed amongs occultists for his angelic workings (his 'spiritual magic') -- the originator of Enochian magic that has permeated the Golden Dawn, the OTO, the A.A. and even chaos magic. Tonight, however, we learn what he was doing when he wasn't summoning angels in his sitting room: tonight promises to round out our appreciation of Dee. If you have loved Dee's tables, calls, and spirit workings, then you are invited to an evening to appreciate how remarkable an individual he was in other areas of life: optics, navigation, philosophy, astrology and theology. Placing his spiritual workings in the wider context of his rich and remarkable life allows for an even greater appreciation of them, we say. Dee rocked, find out why! Liana Saif is completing her doctorate at Birkbeck, University of London. She holds an M.A. in Renaissance Studies and is working on the links between Arabic and European esoteric texts in the pre-modern period.
