Cafe Scientifique is a place where, over cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to explore science and technology. To join in, just turn up, get a drink, and get involved in the discussion.
In the last 50 years we have discovered millions of galaxies in the Universe, documented hundreds and thousands of species on Earth, found ways to make new materials and explored the nature of atoms. Surely we know almost everything now? Not even close... The more we find answers, the more we find new questions. We have only identified 4% of the matter in the universe, more people have visited space than have visited the deepest parts of the ocean, and nanotechnology is only just starting to discover what it can do. Thatâs just the things we know we donât know... what about the things we donât know we donât know?
Four UK research scientists will help us explore just how much is unknown in physics, chemistry, biology and space â“ and try to convince you to get into the field or a research lab to make the discoveries yourself. Which one will you decide has the most exciting unknowns?
Suitable for the curious, from 8 - 108 years old.
