Artmongers, a public art organisation based in SE London, talk about the humour and originality of their site-specific artworks.
The humour and originality of site-specific artworks by Artmongers, a south east London based public art organisation, is the subject of this illustrated talk.
Artmongers work can be seen at various locations along London Overgroundâs new East London line from Highbury to Forest Hill, including Dalston Junction, New Cross Gate and Brockley.
Patricio Forrester and Julian Sharples, artists and founders of Artmongers, will show how forgotten areas of London can be transformed through artistic interventions on the urban landscape. Their work includes the Deptford Marbles mural, the Bling Bin and the Brockley Key. They will discuss how they work with a range of partners, including children in hospitals, young people at risk and the homeless, to produce artworks that have created a real sense of pride and ownership. Examples of Artmongersâ work can be seen at www.artmongers.com.
The talk is in collaboration with the London Festival of Architecture (LFA 2010) and the âLove your Streetâ initiative that seeks to bring together buildings, landscapes, urban regeneration, artwork and community. âLove your Streetâ celebrates the social nature of space and how art, architecture and design can improve relationships between people and places.
