Taking inspiration from nature (a computing perspective)

Natural processes are very powerful but how can we learn from them and use them to our benefit?

Throughout this talk David will discuss how powerful evolution, genetics and the human brain are and how their power can be harnessed to achieve a goal or solve problems. This will involve an introduction to evolutionary computation and neural networks. The talk will be illustrated using a range of film clips to show why nature is such a powerful force including swarming behaviours, colony behaviour, collective behaviour and survival as well as a look at evolving virtual
