Walking on Water

In this talk Dr Fred Gray will examine the social history of the West Pier in Brighton.


Since it opened in 1866, the West Pier has been an enduring part of Brighton's seafront. In this talk Dr Fred Gray will examine the social history of the pier exploring how it has assailed our senses and tugged at our emotions both now and in the past.

Dr Fred Gray works at Sussex University and is the honorary historian for the Brighton West Pier Trust.
