London needs to design, develop and build affordable housing for the younger generation. Pocket is a developer doing just that, they explain their approach.
Tuesday 14th September 2010 - 7.30pm @ Keyworth Centre
Developing in a Recession:
Intermediate Housing - redefining the debate
Between 2006 and 2031 household growth is projected to increase with a demand for 4.1 million one-person households. A total of 6,500 intermediate homes each year is required to meet projected demand in London - while at least 35% of working London households aged 20-39 can neither afford to buy in their area, nor are they eligible for housing benefit.
Pocket is a developer of affordable housing and builds over 300 intermediate housing units per annum in London that requires no grant, is secured as affordable in perpetuity and sold outright to people on low to moderate incomes. The company has received critical support and acclaim from local, regional and national government with successful schemes in Camden, Ealing and Hounslow. Pocket also has joint venture deals with a number of partners in the public and private sectors.
Marc Vlessing has had a broad career working in the City as well as the property and media sectors. Marc also has extensive venture capital experience, both as an entrepreneur and as an investor.
This event is organised by South London Society of Architects which hosts thought-provoking talks and discussions for architects, engineers, planners and students.

Recession is really a bad news! More people today are struggling hard just to meet their ends. Because of it lots of people have lost their jobs. That's why unemployment rate has increased. Earning money is never that easy nowadays. That's why it is better if we are going to spend our money wisely. Some people may opt to apply for loan today but we must always remember the pros and cons of having loan. Enough information is all we need for us not to commit major mistakes when it comes on handling our finances.
