(Post)-industrial Landscapes is Yan Preston's ongoing project exploring the impact and legacy of industrialisation in China and UK, by documenting previous and current industrial sites in both countries. She is interested in how through industrialisation human-beings âconqueredâ nature, and how the concept of ânatureâ shifts during this process. Compared with natureâs continuous existence, the rise and fall of industrialisation seems ephemeral, although its impact on nature and culture has been intense. By juxtaposing images of both countries, Yan hopes to provide a horizontal timeline of these transient steps and seek meaning behind them.
