Some of Britains best-known and most intrepid adventurers discuss the past, present, and future of exploration.
Is the great age of exploration over? Has the modern traveller swapped Ulyssesâ quest for the Happy Isles for a short break at the Holiday Inn? Maybe. But most of us still yearn for the rough, rugged and romantic places of the explorerâs imagination, places where no travel company has been before us... And some of Britainâs greatest explorers and travellers will be taking us there, in mind if not in body, as they examine the past, present and future of great exploration.
The panel will feature some of the most intrepid and well-known explorers of our time. Justin Marozzi, Anthony Sattin, Christina Dodwell, Benedict Allen, John Gimlette, Robin Hanbury-Tenison, Ed Stafford (the man who walked the length of the Amazon), and Barnaby Rogerson will all feature on the panel. After individually introducing themselves, their inspirations and their achievements, the speakers will then discuss the possibility of genuine exploration and discovery in a world where such pursuits are becoming ever more popular.
