With the success of films like Bong Joon-hoâs Mother, Park Chan-wookâs Thirst or Hong Sang-sooâs Ha Ha Ha, Korean cinema is yet again on a roll in the West. But despite the few festival darlings that make it to the big screen in the UK, is Korean film both at home and abroad plagued by short-termism, dominated by a culture of boom and bust?

But despite the few festival darlings that reach the big screen in the UK, is Korean film both at home and abroad plagued by short-termism, dominated by a culture of boom and bust? Jang Jin (director of Good Morning President and Guns and Talks) having made some of Koreaâs most commercially successful films, is joined by Asian film expert Tony Rayns and Simon Ward, Head of Programming at the Independent Cinema Office, to discuss the future of Korean cinema.
