The co-presence of the puppeteer and the puppet

A discussion with Aya Nakamura and Paul Piris of Rouge28 Theatre, Ronnie Le Drew and Finn Caldwell.

A free post-show discussion following the performance of Rouge 28 Theatre's 'Urashima Taro'. 'Co-presence' is a term devised to describe a performance style in which a puppet seems to be aware of the puppeteer.

Eleanor Margolies, editor of ‘Puppet Notebook’ magazine, will host the discussion between the four guests: Aya Nakamura (performer/designer) and Paul Piris (director) of Rouge28; Ronnie Le Drew, a puppeteer with vast experience, from live performance to TV - perhaps best known as the creator of Zippy in Rainbow; and Finn Caldwell, an actor/puppeteer, who has worked with Blind Summit in ‘Madame Butterfly’ and ‘A Dog's Heart', and with Handspring in ‘War Horse’.

The discussion is organised by Rouge28 Theatre in partnership with British UNIMA.
