Zenna Atkins - Former Chairman, Ofstedvisits De Montfort University to give a free lecture as part of the Distinguished Lecture Series 2011.
Zenna Atkins is one of Britainâs most acclaimed social entrepreneurs and a recognised expert in driving profitable social change through high-profile public and private organisations.
Zenna is currently Managing Director of Zail Enterprises Limited, a company designing and delivering education and public services. Zail specialises in creating sustainable governance structures, innovative funding solutions and cost effective delivery which improve outcomes. Zail is a start-up; lead by a team bringing the best from, education, international finance, property, service delivery and innovation.
Until September 2010 Zenna was, CEO of Social Solutions, the Chairman of Ofsted, the children and learnersâ inspection and regulation body. She was also the Group Chairman of Places for People, a national property development and management company, turning over £280 million with a £3 billion asset base.
She serves as a non-executive Director on the board of the Royal Navy and chairs their audit committee. Zenna is a member of the Treasury audit committee. In 2000 she won Ernst & Young, Entrepreneur of the Year South Region and in 2003 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Portsmouth University.
