Department of Media and Communications public lecture
Capitalism has long been seen as promoting a cold rationality, reducing close relationships to self-preoccupation. Yet, this view is unable to explain the importance that emotions have come to acquire for modern individuals.
Lilie Chouliaraki is professor of media and communications at LSE.
Eva Illouz is full professor of sociology at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
