'I don't mean anything' - Applying Gricean and Post-Gricean Pragmatics

A general discussion on applying ideas from linguistic approaches to meaning

A general discussion of some of the trickier areas of linguistic and non-linguistic meaning and the extent to which broadly Gricean approaches can explain them. The talk will also consider ideas about teaching, suggesting that developing sensitivity to specific kinds of meaning can be a useful starting point for classroom work and student projects.
