Mastering new technologies and approaches is essential in keeping pace with business needs in a fast changing, competitive world.
As part of its ERDF-funded digital design and manufacture project, Metropolitan Works launches of Digital Works, a new programme for 2011 that follows on from the ever-popular Introduction to Technology series.
Digital Works offers individuals from small to medium sized enterprises the opportunity to attain hands-on experience with the technology offered at Metropolitan Works including laser cutting, CAD software, water jet cutting, CNC router and rapid prototyping machines.
This workshop aims to assist attendees in improving their understanding of rapid prototyping for the benefit of their business.
Rapid prototyping builds solid 3D objects from a 3D CAD file. The 3D file is sliced into 2D sections on the computer, and then the object is âgrownâ in the rapid prototyping machine, layer by layer, with each new layer being bonded to the previous one. Participants will have a choice to work on one of the following three machines:
Selective Laser Sintering
3D Color Printing
Perfactory Three Dimensional Printing
