Attendees will learn about different heritage crafts and how they contribute to the rich tapestry of British heritage and are a significant part of our tourism and economy.
Professor Tanya Harrod - âCraft Mattersâ
Well-known authority on crafts, journalist and author of The Crafts in Britain in the 20th Century, Professor Tanya Harrod presents the Spring Conference Keynote Speech, looking at the place of traditional crafts in the past, the present and the future.
Mark Henderson - âMarketing craftsmanship in the 21st centuryâ
Chair of the Savile Row Bespoke Association, Mark Henderson imparts his experience of marketing traditional goods hand-made in Britain within the luxury sector.
Alex Langlands - âLife and craft on a Victorian and Edwardian Farmâ
Archaeologist, historian and star of BBC 2âs popular Victorian Farm and Edwardian Farm programmes, Alex Langlands recounts his experience learning a range of traditional crafts.
After an impromptu âInstant Craft Galleryâ (objects from speakers and members of the audience) three very different craftspeople will give insight into their working practices:Sophie Hussain (stained glass), Stewart Linford (chair making)and Gail McGarva (boat building).
