Fine architecture and fascinating families in the great residences of what is still countryside in London today, coupled with the splendid survival of the designers’ best work in the heart of London.
KENWOOD HOUSE - WALK
On the ridge overlooking Hampstead Heath, this was remodelled by Robert Adam and his brother, for the Earl of Mansfield. The Library is one of Adam’s most perfect rooms. The house is also a gallery for a fine collection of paintings. We will explore the house and its ancillary buildings, and then cross the road to Bishops Avenue to see how the opulent rich live in 20th century show houses today.
